Position: QUALITY SYSTEMS AND ASSURANCE /NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Reporting to the Bussiness Head and Group Supply Chain, the Quality Systems and Assurance/NPD Manager develops and Implement systems and procedures aimed at ensuring all product is produced to specification. Secondly to work cross functionally to develop new products based on briefs received from Marketing/Sales. The Position is tenable in Lilongwe.
Key Responsibilities
Develop exceptional Quality Systems (QS) in line with best practice including HACCP and ISO 22000. Ensure that such systems are properly documented through detailed Standard Operating Systems (SOP’s), and that adequate and continuous training is provided to all employees to ensure compliance to these systems.
As part of the SOP’s develop detailed Quality Assurance check sheets to be completed at stipulated intervals by designated employees to ensure compliance to QS and to record any deviations and resulting corrective action.
Develop related Company Policies to promote Health & Safety in the work place including policies around PPE, machine guarding, cleaning and sanitation protocols.
Conduct audits on behalf of both our company and in conjunction with major customers to ensure compliance to both QS and QA protocols. Advise Management where remedial actions are required, monitor such issues and actions on check sheets to ensure implementation.
Develop infrastructure including on line capability and Laboratory capability to meet the ever increasing demands associated with improving food safety.
Conduct audits of all major suppliers (premises, process etc.) to ensure their compliance to our standards. Ensure that such standards are communicated to suppliers either directly or via the Procurement Dept.
Provide training to all employees on both QS and QA requirements. Special emphasis to be placed on training new Employees through a structured induction program.
Monitor and report monthly on all customer and consumer complaints, using a Pareto analysis. Conduct a route cause analysis based on major issues highlighted by the Pareto analysis. Develop corrective action plans and ensure implementation.
Contribute as part of a cross functional team to the development of new products through a good understanding of Food Technology, Ingredients, Packaging and Factory Processing Capability. This will include SOP’s, Usages (Yields) and input into product costings.
Develop a very good professional relationship built on mutual respect with all stake holders including Internal – (Sales/Marketing, IT/Finance, Operations, Warehousing) and external stake holders – (Suppliers, Customers, Regulatory Bodies e.g. MBS).
Required Qualifications and Skills
A formal qualification at University Level, preferably in Food Science or Micro Biology.
Ability to communicate (read, write and speak) English, Chichewa.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in FMCG.
Ability to work and contribute as part of a cross functional business team to deliver strategic goals.
Cross Functional Business knowledge in Finance, Production, HR.
Computer knowledge in excel, word and emails
