Center for the Development of People (CEDEP) is a registered human rights organization dedicated to addressing the needs, improving the lives and providing support for some of Malawi’s most neglected minority groups through, civic education, training, capacity building, networking and research. The mission of CEDEP is to create an enabling environment and protect the well being of sexual minorities and other vulnerable groups. CEDEP has received funding from Christian Aid under the Global Fund TB/HIV Epidemic Confrol Program to implement Key Population interventions as a service provider for MSM and Transgender people in 8 non PEPFAR districts of Karonga, Nkhata-bay, Kasungu, Salima, Dedza, Zomba, Mulanje and Thyolo. The target is MSMS reached with a defined package of HIV Prevention services.
The minimum package includes:
HIV status ascertainment STI screening/referral for treatment and
Provision of condoms and lubricants
Risk assessment (including violence/risk reduction counseling).
POSITION: PROJECT REGIONAL FIELD OFFICERS (2)
Location: Various Districts
Reports to: Project Coordinator
Responsible for: Outreach Workers and Peer Educators (Volunteers)
The Project Regional Field Officers will be responsible for each of the regions of Malawi and will be assigned to more than one district as per distribution of the non-PEPFAR districts that the project will be implemented in.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensuring over all management and implementation of activities at the district level
Developing monthly plans and budgets for the project at district level
Compiling periodic project reports and timely Submitting to the project supervisors
Undertaking field visits to the project sites on a regular basis to asses the quality of project delivery by the volunteers and provide.onsite guidance and support.
Building the capacity of Peer Educators/ volunteers through capacity needs identification and training.
Supporting the monitoring and evaluation of project.
Managing CEDEP resources responsibly entrusted to him/her at the district level
Representing CEDEP at different forums at the district and community level.
Compile timely comprehensive monthly, quarterly and annual project reports
Coordinate effectively with all stakeholders including health clinical personnel district assembly
Perform regular and timely project monitoring, evaluation and reporting in accordance to Global Fund guidelines
Develop quality project presentation for management and stakeholder consumption
Responsible for organizing and coordinating various Linkages project meetings and trainings
Ensure that project targets are reached
Ensure effective behavioural interpersonal Communication and Condom distribution activities
Ensure up to date record keeping and office management
Coordinate and implement clinical activities at health centre level and HTS Outreach services
Conduct counselling for social and health needs of clients
Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND PERSONAL TRAITS
Minimum qualification diploma in Clinical or Nursing. Those with Certificate and relevant experience in HIV clinical work may apply.
Experience in HIV and AIDS Programming for three years
Trained in ART, STI, HTS will have added advantage
Should be computer literate
Should have good communication and negotiation skills
Ready to work under minimal supervision
Should be ready to work in odd hours
Should be ready to work with high risk on HIV and minority population
Able to understand and speak English and Chichewa fluently.
