VFM is currently looking for dedicated professional Christians to fill the following position:
LOAN SUPERVISOR
JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Loan Supervisor will be responsible for managing Field Officers to build and maintain a healthy loan portfolio of saving group clients within the F4T program (finance for transformation); Ensure appropriate group recognition tests/group verification spot checks, the full use of ODK (open data kit), accurate loan evaluations, efficient follow-up of arrears, provision of strong client service, and maintaining up-to-date client records and reports especially the digital loan files.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DELIVERABLES
1. Outreach, promotion of products and origination of new clients
Build and maintain quality SGL/F4T loan clients, rapidly and consistently to reach targets for SGL/F4T loans within assigned period.
Liaise with various organizations, companies, business associations to build a pipeline of possible saving groups
Organize and implement various outreach and promotion campaigns including market storms and
information sessions.
On the job training and support to all staff supervised and pass the skills on loans, digital tools and
repayments tactics.
2. Supervise, spot check and ensure loan evaluations are according to policies and procedures
Follow the F4T supervisor policy on group verification physical checks and cross checks using digital methods. Check that all submissions are done as per policy including documentation and all evaluation and verification of forms and account opening for savings groups via ODK.
Ensuring the proper digital file is prepared and stored at the Branch
Arrange and undertake business site visits for spot checks and complete reports on spot checks using ODK.
Verify and cross-check all information relevant to the loan application and evaluation on willingness and capacity to pay via the digital loan file and ODK server checks and appropriate monitoring tools.
3. Loan Approvals
Coordinate the activities of the credit committee for loan applications pertaining to his/her supervised Field Officers.
Chair the credit committee for loan applications pertaining to his/her supervised Field Officers within his/her authority level.
Ensure all documentation and requirements are complete prior to loan approvals.
Ensure quality of analysis by supervised Field Officers.
Determine and present loan terms and conditions to credit committee above his/her limit.
4. Provide high-quality customer service
Monitor client business progress to identify any potential problems.
Offer suggestions and referrals where appropriate and within company policy
Demonstrate a concern and build client rapport.
Ensure the organization continue to attain a “Quick Turn-Around-Time” as defined in the Customer Service Charter for VisionFund Malawi.
Ensure Renewal Ratios are above minimum standards for the organization.
5. Manage Expected payment and recover late repayments
Achieve and maintain targets on portfolio at risk and loan loss.
Monitor repayment reports daily and client behavior patterns.
Monitor FOs to implement the appropriate F4T payment and recovery methods
6. Build rapport
Become knowledgeable and known in the assigned geographic zone and ensure each staff has a predefined zone.
Build rapport with various stakeholders in the zones allocated which include business associations and various leaders.
Be known and visible in the zones allocated.
Develop goodwill of the zones towards VisionFund.
7. Management of all staff supervised; Field Officers
In collaboration with the Branch Manager, coach mentor, support, and motivate all staff under his/her supervision.
Maintain a high standard of discipline among the allocated staff and ensure that they are performing according to expectation and following the policies of the organization.
Ensure that the work flows of the allocated staff are efficient and well-defined on a weekly and monthly basis.
Reviews all route planners and performance targets for Field Officers.
Appropriate allocation/handover and to take over clients of any staff who has resigned as per policy and directed by management.
8. Supervision and Monitoring
Ensure that supervised staff follows policies and procedures.
Spot-check approved applications for supervised Field officers.
In collaboration with the Branch Manager, set performance goals/targets for supervised staff and monitor their performance in accordance with the organizational objectives, especially using digital tools.
9. Portfolio Administration and Reporting
Efficiently and accurately complete all forms and administrative steps required to manage the portfolio and contribute to the smooth operation of VisionFund Malawi.
Review daily performance reports especially on ODK submissions, Portfolio targets and Quality of
Portfolio
Assist the Branch Manager in the production of required branch reports as required by supervisors or Management.
Ensure proper maintenance of records and good filling system including safe custody of all files requested from back office/operations and digital filing of all relevant loan documentation.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of Diploma in Business, Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics, and/or related fields with numerate coursework.
Minimum of 3 years’ cognate experience in microfinance banking operations and/or credit Loan analysis, credit approval authority is required
Ability to manage 24×7 Loan procedures and Field Officers
Strong management skills; able to coach and motivate staff
Strong analytical skills, e.g. read and interpret financial statements; evaluate loan recommendations and approvals
Financial Analysis /Interpretation skills
Good computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and T24 MCB
Experience with a Microfinance banking software is highly recommended
Strong written and oral communication skills
