Sunbird Tourism plc owns and manages eight hotels and resorts across Malawi. An opportunity has arisen for a self – starting IT professional to join the team in the above capacity.
Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible, inter alia, for:
Providing overall IT governance and oversee all technology operations to ensure business efficiency,
Develop and maintain effective IT policies and standards to support the business strategies
Analyze the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs
Recommending procurement of efficient and cost effective technology equipment, software and services
Identify and recommend to executive management new business value adding technologies
Formulate and control IT departmental budgets and report on expenditure
Manage and maintain IT service contracts with external service providers
Managing the development, deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and support of the company’s business IT systems including television, internet and telephone systems
Develop and maintain effective and efficient disaster recovery procedures to guarantee business continuity
Manage IT staff, including hiring, training, providing strategic guidance
Oversee the provision of the end-user services
To qualify for the position, the successful person should have:
Minimum of 5 years practical experience in a similar position in a busy IT operation.
Experience of hospitality business systems (PMS and POS), digital marketing, e-commerce is a MUST
Sound knowledge in ICT risks including cyber security
In depth knowledge of Microsoft Exchange, latest web design and social media platforms
Solid technical knowledge of local and wide area networks design and implementation
Excellent organizational and leadership skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or relevant field; A Master’s Degree will be a plus
