The Mzuzu Intemational Academy is a co-educational day (Years 1-6) and boarding (Year 7-11) school located on the outskirts of Mzuzu City.
Opened in 2010, the Academy now serves the educational needs of about 400 students. The educational programme of the school is centred on the National Curriculum of England and the requirements of Cambridge IGCSE. In order to effectively and efficiently deliver its strategic objectives, the Mzuzu Intemational Academy invites applications from suitably
qualified candidates to fill the position of Facilities Manager.
JOB ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A Facilities Manager ensures the maintenance of the buildings and grounds of the Academy premises; oversees the upkeep of equipment and supplies; determines and schedules repairs or renovation projects, and coordinates safety inspections on real property and environmental
Cover.
Main duties include the following:
Ensure care management and protection of the Academy’s real property and grounds.
Schedule and supervise maintenance repair works and assist with checking installation and servicing building equipment.
Oversee security of buildings and grounds by maintaining fire — safe conditions inside and outside the facility.
Maintain an aggressive energy and water conservation program.
Establish a key control program and procedures for the security af all basic and master keys that service the facility.
Ensure written service request are submitted to the Head of Administration in good time for approval
Maintain ongoing communication with contractors, clients and team.
Ensure proper surveillance and customer complaint procedures are adhered to in accordance with the requirements in the contracts for refuse collection, grounds maintenance and custodial services,
Manage the maintenance of the school site including the purchase and repair of all furniture and fittings.
Ensure the continuing availability of utilities, services and equipment.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
1. Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications and Work Experience
At least a Diploma in Land Management; Property Development and Facility Management or equivalent with five years’ experience; or relevant City and Guilds Certificate with seven years’ experience.
Hands-on experience in any of the following trades: plumbing, bricklaying and carpentry
2. Competences and Aptitudes
Resourceful and innovative; interpersonal and a team player, ability to multitask and prioritize; and knowledge of environmental issues and climate change.
