Global AIDS Interfaith Alliance (GAIA) in partnership with World Education Inc. /Bantwana Initiative (WEI/Bantwana) is implementing a USAID funded Ana Patsogolo Program/ Project. The program sets out to change life trajectories for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and highly vulnerable adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in Thyolo District in the Southern Region of Malawi. These two overlapping populations live with escalated and intersecting risks for HIV infection, gender based
violence and poor sexual and reproductive health and we need to provide solutions by integrating social protection supports and health services that will enable them not only adhere to treatment but also to thrive to adulthood.
GAIA in partnership with Bantwana seeks to recruit highly motivated and suitably qualified individuals for the implementation of OVC activities in Thyolo district in the following available position.

Position: District Coordinator- Ana Patsogolo Project.
Location: Thyolo, Mulanje and Phalombe. (three positions, one in each district)
Job summary
The District Coordinator is to oversee implementation of OVC activities in Thyolo, Mulanje and Phalombe Districts.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities
Oversee all administration, staffing and logistics tasks at district level in consultation with Supervisor.
Support the Project Officers in organizing training for the CRPs in their respective facilities.
Establish a systems approach in working & collaborating with schools, health facilities, families, youths and communities to respond to the needs of the most vulnerable youth in the community.
Identify districts staff development needs and liaise with the supervisor to ensure appropriate follow-up and ensure on going coaching and on-the-job training of key technical resource staff
Take charge of the designing and coordinating of health, school activities & OVC support strategies for youth beneficiaries of the project.
Provide mentorship and supervision of field level staff to ensure they are compliant to standards and procedures in line with Government of Malawi policies.
Develop, improve and recommend monitoring tools that would ensure high standards of services are provided to beneficiaries at all times
Represent the organization in all stakeholders meeting in collaboration with the OVC Manager at district level including District Executive Committee meetings.
Strengthen relationship with all stakeholders at district level.
Lead in preparation of monthly and quarterly reports and share with key stakeholders
Qualifications and skills requirement
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Gender, Youths, Social Work, and Health System Management.
At least Four years’ experience working in HIV/AIDS, OVC and youth programs.
Those with Prior experience in the management and implementation of USAID funded HIV Prevention and/or OVC Programs.
Extensive knowledge and experience working with the local government structures
Knowledge of OVC, HIV prevention, behavior change and communication, sexual reproductive health, gender mainstreaming into HV and AIDS programming
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
High degree of adaptability to new ideas and learning.
Ability and willingness to travel extensively for project supervision within the districts’ project implementation sites.
