INTRODUCTION
The Empowering Youth in Agribusiness Project (EYA!) project aims to improve the qualification and employment situation in rural areas, especially for young men and women. The target group are job-seeking and underemployed young people, especially young women, and young agripreneurs aged between 15-35.
The Consultancy:
This consultancy aims at hiring a consultancy firm to conduct a research of existing job matching/placement models in Malawi and abroad with the aim of identifying models that can be implemented in the country in order to support youths get jobs in the agri-food sector. The job matching activities may include but not limited to the provision of career guidance, creating jobs, business platforms, hosting job fares, support with job application processes, interview coaching, supporting mentor networks and arranging internships and final projects. The results hypothesis is that rural youths should have their capacity developed and have access to high quality information which will support them have increased access at jobs within the agri-food sector, thereby increasing employment and incomes.
The consultancy firm shall:
Conduct desk research of existing job matching/placement models in the country and abroad. This desk research should include a categorisation of existing job matching models, what platforms are used, steps and processes used to get people into jobs e.t.c, what business models are used, specific target market or users, gaps or challenges, products or services offered and frequency or cycles of operation.
Support and strategically advise the project team in their understanding of relevant cultural, gender-related and any other social dimensions necessary for the successful implementation of job matching/placement services.
Support and strategically advise the project team whether or not the models identified target rural youth with a specific focus on women. Where they are found not to, the consultancy should offer tangible recommendations as to how these models can be scaled up.
